Circulation
Request or Renew a Book (or other item) Online!
It's easy! First you need to visit the library to obtain a PIN. It just takes a minute and you'll have increased control of your account from home or work. The PIN, along with your library card number, will allow you to "log in" to your account to request an item from the catalog, renew an item you have already checked out, or cancel a hold if you change your mind. Library Cards
To register for a library card, please bring identification with your current address to the circulation desk. We will ask you to fill out a registration form.

Children's Room Library Cards
Children ages 4 and older may register for a library card. All that is needed is a parent's signature and verification of address.

Renewals
Most library materials are renewable as long as no reserves are pending. Materials may be renewed twice. Quick Pick items and Rental DVDs may not be renewed.

Please note:
Overdue charges are accrued according to the lending library's rules. We will however cap the charge on an item if it exceeds $2.00, which is our maximum charge. We do not have a grace period; changes on Melrose items start accruing at 12:01 a.m. on the day after the due date. The item is late if not returned or renewed by midnight on the due date. Computer Use
The Library offers 17 public computers with access to the Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, (both 2003 and 2007 versions). Most computers have "A:" disk drives; all have USB ports (for flash drives). You will need your library card number to use a computer. All users with a library card can reserve a computer for the same day at the library (no reservations can be made over the phone or online) or may use a computer on a first come, first serve basis. Each user is allowed a maximum of 3 hours a day, the first hour is uninterrupted, with additional time allotted depending on availability. 30 minute guest passes are available for out-of-town visitors. In addition, there is one express 15-minute computer for Internet access only. The Adult Library also offers three computers dedicated to the NOBLE catalog.

Wireless Access
Wireless Internet access is available throughout the building for patrons with laptops. Wireless Printing is not available at this time.

Printing
All computers are connected to a printer. Black and white printing is 10 cents per page and all color printing is 25 cents per page. A separate computer and printer, not connected to the Internet, is available in the Adult Library for printing on special paper, or with labels, or envelopes. This is the only printer with this option.

Melrose Beach Blanket Book Club
will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room on Thursday August 12, 2010 to discuss their summer reading. Come for prizes, refreshments, and good conversation!
