Computer & Internet Use

The Library offers 2 public computers with access to the Internet and Microsoft Office 2016. You will need your library card number or a guest pass to use a PC. One-hour guest passes are available at the reference desk.

The Library also offers 2 Chromebooks that can be borrowed for use in the library building only. You will need your library card to borrow a Chromebook from the reference desk.

All users with a library card can reserve a computer for the same day at the library (no reservations can be made over the phone or online) or may use a computer on a first come, first served basis. A reservation can be made at the reference desk. Each user is allowed a maximum of 6 hours per day on a computer (the first hour is uninterrupted, with additional time allotted in 30 minute increments depending on availability).

Additionally, there is an express computer station that can be used for 15 minutes with no option for more time. You will need your library card number or a guest pass to use this PC. It has Microsoft Office 2016 installed and Internet access.

Wireless Access
Wireless Internet is available throughout the building for patrons with their own devices.

Printing
All library computers are connected to 2 printers. Black and white printing is $0.15 per page and color printing is $0.25 per page. Patrons must use the paper provided by the library. Letter and legal size paper are available.

The library also offers remote printing. Patrons can send print jobs using their own device from anywhere with internet access. Print jobs can be sent using the Princh app, via a web browser, or via email. To print using a web browser go to https://print.princh.com/?pid=109318. To print via email, send your print job as an attachment to melrose-bw@ewprints.com (for black & white) or to melrose-color@ewprints.com (for color). Emails with attachments will transmit as one print job with multiple files. Please note: Google files (docs, slides, sheet, etc.) will need to be downloaded to PDF or other recognized file types before printing. Files as links in the body of the email will not print.

Print jobs will need to be printed on the day they are sent. The printers will will turn off 15 minutes before the library closes. The library is not responsible for unsuccessful transmission of remote print jobs.
