Computer & Internet Use
The Library offers 2 public computers with access to the Internet and Microsoft Office 2016. You will need your library card number or a guest pass to use a PC. One-hour guest passes are available at the reference desk.
The Library also offers 2 Chromebooks that can be borrowed for use in the library building only. You will need your library card to borrow a Chromebook from the reference desk.
All users with a library card can reserve a computer for the same day at the library (no reservations can be made over the phone or online) or may use a computer on a first come, first served basis. A reservation can be made at the reference desk. Each user is allowed a maximum of 6 hours per day on a computer (the first hour is uninterrupted, with additional time allotted in 30 minute increments depending on availability).
Additionally, there is an express computer station that can be used for 15 minutes with no option for more time. You will need your library card number or a guest pass to use this PC. It has Microsoft Office 2016 installed and Internet access.
Wireless Internet is available throughout the building for patrons with their own devices.
All library computers are connected to 2 printers. Black and white printing is $0.15 per page and color printing is $0.25 per page. Patrons must use the paper provided by the library. Letter and legal size paper are available.
Patrons can print at the library from their own devices. To print from a laptop, access the WiFi print portal at printeron.net/melrose/publiclibrary or download the PrinterOn app. To print an email from a mobile device or laptop, forward it to Melrosefirstname.lastname@example.org for black and white; Melroseemail@example.com for color.
